Server Settings

These are the settings you'll enter into any email client. Use the protocol that your client supports — IMAP is recommended for most people.

Supported Clients

gilgiti.me works with any standard IMAP/SMTP client. Jump to the guide for your client below.

Spark Mail

Spark is one of the best email clients available. It's available on Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Android. Highly recommended for gilgiti.me users.

   Open Spark and go to Add AccountOn Mac: Spark menu → Preferences → Accounts → + button. On mobile: tap the sidebar → Settings → Add Account.

   Choose "Other" as the account typeSpark will try to auto-detect settings. If it fails to find gilgiti.me automatically, choose "Other Email" or "IMAP" to enter settings manually.

   Enter your email and passwordUse your full email address (e.g. zuhaib@gilgiti.me) and your gilgiti.me password.

   Tap Sign In or Add AccountSpark will verify the credentials and sync your inbox. This may take a moment on first load.

Apple Mail

Apple Mail is built into every Mac, iPhone, and iPad. Setup takes about two minutes.

On Mac

   Open Mail → Add AccountGo to Mail menu → Add Account, or open System Settings → Internet Accounts → Add Account → Mail.

   Select "Other Mail Account"Scroll to the bottom of the provider list and choose "Other Mail Account…"

   Enter your name, email, and passwordFull name, your @gilgiti.me address, and your password. Click Sign In.

   Enter server settings manually if promptedMail type: IMAP · Incoming server: mail.gilgiti.me · Outgoing server: mail.gilgiti.me. Click Sign In.

   Verify ports if neededIncoming port 993 SSL. Outgoing port 587 STARTTLS. These are usually auto-filled correctly.

On iPhone / iPad

   Settings → Mail → Accounts → Add AccountScroll down and tap "Other" at the bottom of the provider list.

   Tap Next and wait for verificationiOS will verify both servers. Once done, your inbox will appear in Mail.

Microsoft Outlook

Outlook on Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android all support IMAP accounts. The steps are slightly different per platform.

Outlook on Windows / Mac

   File → Add AccountOn Mac: Outlook menu → Preferences → Accounts → + → New Account.

   Enter your email address and click ConnectOutlook will attempt auto-discovery. If it fails, choose "IMAP" manually on the next screen.

Outlook on iOS / Android

   Tap the menu → Settings → Add Mail Account → Add Email AccountEnter your @gilgiti.me address and tap Continue.

   Choose IMAP when promptedOutlook may try to use its own sync. Dismiss that and choose IMAP.

Thunderbird

Mozilla Thunderbird is free, open source, and available on Windows, Mac, and Linux. It has excellent IMAP support.

   Open Thunderbird → Set Up an Existing Email AccountOn first launch this appears automatically. Otherwise: File → New → Existing Mail Account.

iOS Mail

The built-in Mail app on iPhone and iPad works perfectly with gilgiti.me. This is the same as the Apple Mail guide above for mobile.

Android — K-9 Mail

K-9 Mail is the best IMAP client on Android. It's free, open source, and available on the Play Store and F-Droid.

   Open K-9 Mail → Add AccountOn first launch this appears automatically. Otherwise: tap the three-dot menu → Add Account.

   Enter your email address and tap NextK-9 will attempt auto-configuration. If it doesn't find gilgiti.me, you'll configure manually.

Gmail App

The Gmail app on iOS and Android lets you add other IMAP accounts alongside your Gmail. Your @gilgiti.me email will appear in the same app.

   Enter your full @gilgiti.me email addressTap Next. Gmail will attempt auto-discovery — it will likely fall back to manual setup.

Troubleshooting

Can't connect to the server

Double-check that you've entered the server address exactly as mail.gilgiti.me — no typos, no http:// prefix. Confirm port 993 for IMAP and port 587 for SMTP. Make sure SSL/TLS is enabled for IMAP and STARTTLS for SMTP.

Authentication failed / wrong password

Make sure your username is your full email address (e.g. zuhaib@gilgiti.me), not just your name. Passwords are case-sensitive. If you've forgotten your password, contact access@gilgiti.me to reset it.

Email lands in spam on Gmail or Outlook

Sent emails not appearing in Sent folder

In your client's SMTP/account settings, find the "Sent folder" or "Drafts folder" setting and make sure it's mapped to the IMAP folders Sent and Drafts respectively. Some clients auto-detect this; others need it set manually.

Client says the certificate is untrusted

Our TLS certificate is issued by Let's Encrypt and valid for *.gilgiti.me. If your client flags it, make sure your device's system clock is correct — an incorrect date can cause certificate validation to fail. If the problem persists, contact us.

IMAP folders not showing up

In your client, look for a "Manage folders" or "Subscribe to folders" option. IMAP folders need to be subscribed/subscribed to before they appear. All standard folders (Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Trash, Junk) should be available.
